CandyMail delivers confectionary from America and around the world. It’s powered by gift and confectionary store Gifted – a family-run retail chain with shops across East Anglia.
After Gifted stores closed due to the Coronavirus lockdown, CandyMail offered an alternative way for customers to buy confectionary. CandyMail had great social media presence but no website of its own.
We were briefed to brand and create an ecommerce website that would make it easy for customers to order sweet treats, supported by Google Shopping, Facebook Ads and search engine optimisation so that CandyMail would be easily found.

The CandyMail identity needed to be fun and have an American feel, as well as working for the website and across social media platforms. The website design needed to be vibrant, easy to use on desktop and mobile, and have a simple buying process.
We started by developing the CandyMail logo and colour palette. Candy from the USA is a big seller, so both were designed to look and feel American, and then carried this theme over into the website design.
The website is built on Shopify, in a tight timescale we were able to deliver a cost-effective online store quickly by customising an existing theme instead of creating a bespoke design. Shopify also has many other built-in features and add-ons that further sped up development.
The built-in email newsletter signup options allow them to capture customer email addresses easily and automated cart abandonment emails help rescue lost sales.

Once the website was launched we immediately started Google Shopping and Facebook Ad PPC campaigns to start delivering traffic, which have been responsible for over 10,000 transactions since launch.
We also introduced search engine optimisation to the mix which saw a 133% increase in transactions in its first three months, and CandyMail continues to go from strength to strength.
