IASK (Information Advice and Support Kent) provide information, advice and support to children, young people and parents/carers about special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Kent.

Their previous web presence was limited to a few pages within the Kent County Council website, so they approached Bigfork about developing a new website for them that would be standalone so they had greater control over the look and content.

Website design

To make sure the website started off in the right direction, we held a workshop early on where we gathered feedback about what the target audience would want from the new website, from how it looked and worked, to the type of information they'd find useful.

As IASK didn't have an existing website as such, they needed to create all of the content for a new website. Having worked with other education and SEND organisations, we had a good understanding of what was needed and worked with them to devise a content plan.

IASK website

We designed the website to be very simple to use with a big focus on accessibility. Colours and fonts were carefully considered for legibility, as was navigation to make sure it was easy to use for everyone – whether they prefer to browse with a mouse, keyboard, screen reader, phone, tablet, or anything else.

In the end, it all came together into a site that was very well received by both IASK and their customers. As well as being a hub of useful information, it provides an easy way for people to contact IASK and even book onto information sessions where they can get the support they need.
