My Fish Delivery

Brown & May supply the catering industry with a variety of food products, specialising in fresh fish, frozen fish and seafood. During the Covid-19 lockdown, they wanted to expand their offering to deliver products to the public, so appointed Bigfork to create My Fish Delivery.

The Brief

Brown & May are well-known in the East Anglian catering industry. However, the online shop needed to be promoted to a new audience, the public.

The website needed to be clear, easy to use on desktop and mobile, and have a simple buying process. Tempting imagery was also needed to showcase the range of fish, seafood and groceries available.

For Brown & May, stock levels are sometimes unpredictable, so the product listings and availability needed to be easy to update. Delivery had to be flexible too – for the website launch, delivery was limited to Norfolk and Suffolk, and orders required a minimum spend to qualify.

We also needed to get the website live fast. Lockdown is an uncertain time, and many other food suppliers were beginning to offer a home delivery service, so it was important to stay one step ahead of the competition.

The Process

Working with existing branding, we produced clear and image driven design concepts using appealing food photography to encourage sales. 

We worked with Brown & May to develop an image library using a mix of their own product photos and professional stock images.  

The messaging throughout the site highlights a free delivery offer, shows where orders can be delivered to and guides users through the buying process. Clear product categories, combined with a search function, mean that users can easily find the products they’re looking for.

Behind the scenes the website is built in WordPress as the content management system (CMS) and WooCommerce for the ecommerce element.

This system makes it easy for Brown & May to maintain products and pages, as well as offering a simple order and fulfilment process. WooCommerce has many built-in features and add-ons that enabled us to develop the shop quickly.

The Results

The new website gives Brown & May a flexible platform with the ability to expand their product range and page content as the business develops.

In less than a month the delivery area has been expanded from Norfolk and Suffolk to include Cambridgeshire, a change which Brown & May were quickly able to update themselves through the CMS.

For customers, the live website looks clean and fresh and allows them to buy products quickly and easily.
